Beats Y Bateria

new album

Prepare yourselves for a sonic voyage like no other! We are thrilled to extend an exclusive invitation to you for a transcendent listening experience: Beats y Bateria's highly anticipated new album, "Migratum," The body of work represents the originality and innovation that comes from 3 very different people with very different backgrounds making music together. It's a story of what happens every day in Chicago when cultures collide and create new, beautiful things. The record migrates through sound, language and beats to give the listener a true global sound journey.

“ Migratum is the Chicago trio's debut album, building in form, beats complexity and melodies from 2019's
self-titled EP. The term 'world fusion' is applicable to this intense concoction of Afro-Cuban, Romanian voice, house, breakbeat and muscular percussion. Cuban producer Harold 'AfroQbano' Gonzalez' background is as a DJ and producer, while the US drummer/ percussionist Daniel Crane, has played live at hip-hop clubs. In contrast, chanteuse Ana Everling reinterprets Moldovan vocal folklore. Best are Everling's interpretations of the doina, a free-form Romanian genre she is preserving. 'Sirenas' is a cover of Argentine singer Carlos Gardel's lament ‘Cuesta Abajo'. The stanzas - the first four soaring over a drone - totally enchant, before Crane and AfroQbano burst in for the climactic final minutes. On the jazzy house 'Moldovan Disco', Everling is in warmer mood while guest keyboardist Kevin Ford improvises. This is riveting and original, putting Chicago on today's global music map. “

Venturing into the realms of Afro-Latino and Romanian traditions, blended with modern electronic elements, “Beats y Batería” come back with “Dimineata”, an enchanting single, combining mysterious soundscapes, hypnotic percussion and captivating vocals from singer-songwriter Ana Everling. The beautiful lyrics in Romanian deal with loneliness and alienation, seeking relief but never finding it.

Beats y Bateria with their track ‘Dimineata’ -
We’re under the spell of this song and of this quite extraordinary female vocal mastery. Superb technique and emotion intersect with subtle, groovy and luminous world arrangements. There’s a very interesting creative freedom in this track, where tradition blends with modernity with elegance.
